Profile:

Takehiko Kamijo graduated from Shinshu University School of Medicine in 1986, and took the courses of pediatrics. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Shinshu University by study of mitochondrial fatty acids beta-oxidation deficiencies. Then he changed his research projects to the study of molecular mechanism of carcinogenesis. He confirmed ARF function as a tumor suppressor and mechanism of ARF-induced apoptosis. Now his projects are: 1. neuroblastoma; 2. tumor suppresors; 3. epigenetics; 4. cancer stem cells.

1986 MD degree, Shinshu University
1994 PhD degree, Graduate School of Shinshu University
1995 Howard Hughes Medical Fellow
1998 Assistant Professor, Dept of Pediatrics, Shinshu University
2001 Associate Professor, Dept of Pediatrics, Shinshu University
2006 Head of Div. Biochemistry, Chiba Cancer Center Research Institute

Fields of specialty:

Molecular Carcinogenesis; Epigenetics; Translational research of childhood cancers; Cancer Stem Cells.

Comments/Future dream:

Now we are going to find out the fundamental principles of molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis. This study will help to conquer cancers by development of new therapies.

Motivated students will be very welcome to join our research projects.
