2 Research Projects
The Epidemiology Research Department (1) operates the Registration Center of the Chiba Cancer Registry, (2) is in charge of data management of hospital-based cancer registries and (3) conducts a variety of epidemiological surveys using the data from the Chiba Cancer Registry.
1. The Chiba Cancer Registry was started off in 1957 and the total number of data concerning cancer occurrence in the entire Chiba Prefecture reached somewhere around 300 thousand by the end of the year 2002. For greater detail please refer to the Chiba Cancer Registry website

2. The hospital-based cancer registry data input by the Epidemiology Research Department is released as the survival rate statistics of the" regional cancer treatment centers".
3. The Epidemiology Research Department conducts surveys and research on various factors causing cancer. The department is also conducting a wide area survey on helicobacter pylori in Chiba Prefecture, running a follow-up survey on a cohort of 10 thousand in size.
